Svitlo is a US-based non-profit bringing information transparency and resource coordination to the Ukrainian refugee resettlement effort across a complex landscape of government and nonprofit organizations.

Svitlo occupies a unique and vital niche in identifying, researching, and centralizing important information about benefits, housing, job search, and other services Ukrainians need to make a new life in the US. Because the US government operates in a decentralized way, each state has its own set of rules, processes, and relief organizations. Our goal is to provide Ukrainians with accurate, relevant, and timely information they can use to access the services available to them. 

About the Role

Svitlo is currently seeking talented and driven translators who are fluent in English and possess native or near-native proficiency in Ukrainian. In this role, you will be responsible for translating website content to ensure Ukrainian speakers have access to essential information. Accuracy, cultural sensitivity, and timely completion of assignments are crucial for this position. This is a remote volunteer opportunity that offers a meaningful and emotionally rewarding experience. Please be aware that this position is unpaid.

Time Commitment

• Currently, this role is a volunteer position, requiring an anticipated commitment of approximately 10-15 hours per week. We understand the importance of flexibility and are open to accommodating your other commitments by offering flexible working hours.
  

Responsibilities

• Translate website content to Ukrainian, maintaining accuracy and cultural sensitivity.

• Ensure timely delivery of assigned translations.

• Collaborate effectively with the team to meet project objectives.

Requirements

• Fluent in English with native or near-native proficiency in Ukrainian.

• Proven experience in translation, either professionally or as a volunteer.

• Deep understanding of Ukrainian language, culture, and customs.

• Meticulous attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate translations.

• Strong time management and communication skills.
