Svitlo is a US-based non-profit bringing information transparency and resource coordination to the Ukrainian refugee resettlement effort across a complex landscape of government and nonprofit organizations.

Svitlo occupies a unique and vital niche in identifying, researching, and centralizing important information about benefits, housing, job search, and other services Ukrainians need to make a new life in the US. Because the US government operates in a decentralized way, each state has its own set of rules, processes, and relief organizations. Our goal is to provide Ukrainians with accurate, relevant, and timely information they can use to access the services available to them. 

About the Role

Svitlo is looking for a talented and driven content writer and researcher to play a crucial role in the development of our website. Your primary responsibility will involve conducting thorough research on topics relevant to Ukrainians’ refugee journey including ESL classes, job search, accessing healthcare in the US, etc. You will then synthesize your research in English, which will later be translated into Ukrainian and Russian. Your contributions will be instrumental in delivering the information Ukrainians need to create a new life in the US.

Time Commitment

• Currently, this role is a volunteer position, requiring an anticipated commitment of approximately 10-15 hours per week. We understand the importance of flexibility and are open to accommodating your other commitments by offering flexible working hours.

Responsibilities

• Find information on benefits, housing resources, ESL classes, etc across websites (e.g. government websites), FB groups, and telegram channels.

• Identify the right contacts in the relevant organizations, contact them to confirm the services they offer/contact information, and establish relationships.

• Keep track of information and synthesize it into clear and concise writing for the website.

Requirements

• Excellent writing and research skills

• Demonstrated experience consisted with the list of the qualities of the ideal candidate above

• Passion for Ukrainian humanitarian issues. The ideal candidate should genuinely care about the challenges faced by Ukrainians affected by the war and have a strong desire to make a positive impact in their lives.

• Proficiency in Ukrainian and/or Russian (Preferred).
