US admission record (Form I-94)

What is it

Form I-94 shows the date of your admission to the U.S., your class of admission, and how long you are allowed to stay in the country.

How to get it

Years ago, you were expected to receive your I-94 form at the border, but now everything is done online. All you need to do is download your form from the Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) website. Choose the “Get most recent I-94” option on top of the page, fill in your name, date of birth, and passport number, and that will give you your record. Save a screenshot of this page and print it out, as you will need it later.

Question #1
I went to the site, but all I got was a “No record found for traveler” message. What should I do?

Answer
Sometimes CBP uploads the information right away, and sometimes it takes up to a week for it to make it to the site. If you’ve just arrived, don’t panic. Complete other steps and come back to check this site again later. If it’s been a full week and your record is still not available, you will need to contact your closest CBP office – the list can be found here.
There is most likely a misprint either in your name or passport number. Your record is on file, but you just can’t access it.

Question #2
My child doesn't have their own passport, how do I find their I-94 number?

Answer
If you came under the Uniting for Ukraine program, you can find your child’s I-94 under your passport number. If you came through Mexico, follow the same steps as you would for yourself but instead of a passport number, enter their birth certificate number (only numbers, no letters). If you still cannot locate their record, you will need to contact your nearest CBP office, which can be found in this list.
